About Work Sans

Work Sans font is a sans-serif typeface by Wei Huang. Sans-serif lettering has no decorative finishing strokes, giving it a straightforward appearance that can suit headings, body text, website content and interface layouts.

This release includes two styles: Variable (weight 400) and Italic Variable (weight 400). The upright and italic options provide different text treatments, while the variable format allows flexible use in software that supports variable fonts.

The font supports Latin, Latin Extended and Vietnamese characters, with 1,349 glyphs. It is available in TTF and WOFF2 formats for desktop and web typography.

Work Sans is distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which permits commercial use under its terms. Check the license conditions when using or sharing the font.

Use Work Sans on your website

Copy the CSS below. Option B needs the font files uploaded to a fonts/ folder on your own server first.

Option A: use the font directly from Fonts1 (no upload needed)

@font-face {
  font-family: 'Work Sans';
  src: url('https://files.fonts1.com/fonts1/fonts/3062/dcd1f23348-worksans-wght.woff2') format('woff2');
  font-weight: 400;
  font-style: normal;
  font-display: swap;
}

@font-face {
  font-family: 'Work Sans';
  src: url('https://files.fonts1.com/fonts1/fonts/3062/823977a57d-worksans-italic-wght.woff2') format('woff2');
  font-weight: 400;
  font-style: italic;
  font-display: swap;
}

Quickest way to try it. For a busy production site, Option B (your own server) is more reliable.

Option B: self-host (download, then upload to your server)

@font-face {
  font-family: 'Work Sans';
  src: url('fonts/WorkSans-wght-.woff2') format('woff2');
  font-weight: 400;
  font-style: normal;
  font-display: swap;
}

@font-face {
  font-family: 'Work Sans';
  src: url('fonts/WorkSans-Italic-wght-.woff2') format('woff2');
  font-weight: 400;
  font-style: italic;
  font-display: swap;
}

2. Apply it

body {
  font-family: 'Work Sans', sans-serif;
}

Fonts that pair well with Work Sans

Good design mixes two or three fonts. These are picked from a different style (a clean sans next to a script, a serif next to a sans) so they stay easy to tell apart and cover the same language.
