About Google Sans

Google Sans is a sans-serif typeface designed by Google. Sans-serif fonts use letterforms without the small finishing strokes associated with serif designs, making them suitable for digital interfaces, headings, and text-focused layouts. Its broad script support makes it an option for projects involving multiple writing systems.

This release includes Variable and Italic Variable styles, both listed at weight 400. Variable fonts can provide adjustable typographic settings in compatible software, although the available controls depend on the font and application. The font contains 8,311 glyphs and supports Arabic, Bengali, Cyrillic, Devanagari, Greek, Hebrew, Latin, Latin Extended, Thai, and Vietnamese scripts.

Google Sans font files are available in TTF and WOFF2 formats. TTF supports use in compatible desktop applications, while WOFF2 is designed for web typography. Preview your preferred script and compare the available styles before downloading the files.

The typeface is licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which permits commercial use subject to its terms. Review the license conditions before incorporating or redistributing the font in a project.

Use Google Sans on your website

Copy the CSS below. Option B needs the font files uploaded to a fonts/ folder on your own server first.

Option A: use the font directly from Fonts1 (no upload needed)

@font-face {
  font-family: 'Google Sans';
  src: url('https://files.fonts1.com/fonts1/fonts/1693/a2953305cb-googlesans-grad-opsz-wght.woff2') format('woff2');
  font-weight: 400;
  font-style: normal;
  font-display: swap;
}

@font-face {
  font-family: 'Google Sans';
  src: url('https://files.fonts1.com/fonts1/fonts/1693/c1fc7f98d8-googlesans-italic-grad-opsz-wght.woff2') format('woff2');
  font-weight: 400;
  font-style: italic;
  font-display: swap;
}

Quickest way to try it. For a busy production site, Option B (your own server) is more reliable.

Option B: self-host (download, then upload to your server)

@font-face {
  font-family: 'Google Sans';
  src: url('fonts/GoogleSans-GRAD-opsz-wght-.woff2') format('woff2');
  font-weight: 400;
  font-style: normal;
  font-display: swap;
}

  src: url('fonts/GoogleSans-Italic-GRAD-opsz-wght-.woff2') format('woff2');
  font-weight: 400;

  font-display: swap;
}

2. Apply it

Fonts that pair well with Google Sans

Good design mixes two or three fonts. These are picked from a different style (a clean sans next to a script, a serif next to a sans) so they stay easy to tell apart and cover the same language.
