About Young Serif

Young Serif is a serif typeface designed by Bastien Sozeau. Serif typefaces feature small finishing strokes at the ends of letterforms, giving text a traditional typographic appearance. This category is often used for editorial layouts, book-style text, headings, and other designs that benefit from a classic serif look.

The Young Serif font release includes one Regular style at weight 400. Its supported scripts are Latin and Latin Extended, making it suitable for text using characters from these writing systems. The single listed style provides a straightforward option for projects that need a regular serif typeface without additional styles in the supplied family.

Files are available in TTF and WOFF2 formats for compatible desktop applications and web projects. The release contains 644 glyphs and uses the SIL Open Font License 1.1. Preview your own words on Fonts1 to see how they appear in the typeface before downloading the format that fits your workflow.

Use Young Serif on your website

Copy the CSS below. Option B needs the font files uploaded to a fonts/ folder on your own server first.

Option A: use the font directly from Fonts1 (no upload needed)

@font-face {
  font-family: 'Young Serif';
  src: url('https://files.fonts1.com/fonts1/fonts/3080/3152e20cf1-youngserif-regular.woff2') format('woff2');
  font-weight: 400;
  font-style: normal;
  font-display: swap;
}

Quickest way to try it. For a busy production site, Option B (your own server) is more reliable.

Option B: self-host (download, then upload to your server)

@font-face {
  font-family: 'Young Serif';
  src: url('fonts/YoungSerif-Regular.woff2') format('woff2');
  font-weight: 400;
  font-style: normal;
  font-display: swap;
}

2. Apply it

body {
  font-family: 'Young Serif', serif;
}

Fonts that pair well with Young Serif

Good design mixes two or three fonts. These are picked from a different style (a clean sans next to a script, a serif next to a sans) so they stay easy to tell apart and cover the same language.
