About Yellowtail

Yellowtail is a handwriting typeface designed by Astigmatic. Handwriting fonts bring a personal, informal quality to lettering and can suit greeting cards, invitations, decorative titles, branding, and promotional designs. They are a useful option when you want text to feel more expressive than conventional body typography, particularly in short phrases and headings.

The Yellowtail font comes in one Regular style at weight 400. It supports Latin and Latin Extended scripts, making it suitable for text using characters from these writing systems. The supplied release contains 373 glyphs, providing the character set included with this version.

You can choose between TTF and WOFF2 formats for compatible desktop software and web projects. Yellowtail is distributed under the Apache License 2.0, which permits commercial use subject to its terms. Preview your own wording on Fonts1 to check the lettering in context before downloading the format you need.

Use Yellowtail on your website

Copy the CSS below. Option B needs the font files uploaded to a fonts/ folder on your own server first.

Option A: use the font directly from Fonts1 (no upload needed)

@font-face {
  font-family: 'Yellowtail';
  src: url('https://files.fonts1.com/fonts1/fonts/3074/b5fdf991f8-yellowtail-regular.woff2') format('woff2');
  font-weight: 400;
  font-style: normal;
  font-display: swap;
}

Quickest way to try it. For a busy production site, Option B (your own server) is more reliable.

Option B: self-host (download, then upload to your server)

@font-face {
  font-family: 'Yellowtail';
  src: url('fonts/Yellowtail-Regular.woff2') format('woff2');
  font-weight: 400;
  font-style: normal;
  font-display: swap;
}

2. Apply it

body {
  font-family: 'Yellowtail', sans-serif;
}

How to install Yellowtail

Fonts that pair well with Yellowtail

Good design mixes two or three fonts. These are picked from a different style (a clean sans next to a script, a serif next to a sans) so they stay easy to tell apart and cover the same language.
