About Vollkorn

Vollkorn is a serif typeface designed by Friedrich Althausen. Serif fonts have small finishing strokes on letterforms and are often used for books, editorial layouts, long-form reading, and headings. They can bring a traditional typographic character to both print and digital projects.

This release includes a variable style and an italic variable style, both listed at weight 400. Variable fonts can provide adjustable typographic settings in compatible software, while italic styling offers another option for emphasis and visual contrast.

Vollkorn supports Cyrillic, Greek, Latin, Latin Extended, and Vietnamese scripts. The font files contain 2,303 glyphs, and the available download formats are TTF and WOFF2. Preview your own sample text to explore the typeface before selecting a file for your project.

Use Vollkorn on your website

Copy the CSS below. Option B needs the font files uploaded to a fonts/ folder on your own server first.

Option A: use the font directly from Fonts1 (no upload needed)

@font-face {
  font-family: 'Vollkorn';
  src: url('https://files.fonts1.com/fonts1/fonts/3036/3711f5ec3b-vollkorn-wght.woff2') format('woff2');
  font-weight: 400;
  font-style: normal;
  font-display: swap;
}

@font-face {
  font-family: 'Vollkorn';
  src: url('https://files.fonts1.com/fonts1/fonts/3036/ae486a6c76-vollkorn-italic-wght.woff2') format('woff2');
  font-weight: 400;
  font-style: italic;
  font-display: swap;
}

Quickest way to try it. For a busy production site, Option B (your own server) is more reliable.

Option B: self-host (download, then upload to your server)

@font-face {
  font-family: 'Vollkorn';
  src: url('fonts/Vollkorn-wght-.woff2') format('woff2');
  font-weight: 400;
  font-style: normal;
  font-display: swap;
}

@font-face {
  font-family: 'Vollkorn';
  src: url('fonts/Vollkorn-Italic-wght-.woff2') format('woff2');
  font-weight: 400;
  font-style: italic;
  font-display: swap;
}

2. Apply it

body {
  font-family: 'Vollkorn', serif;
}

Fonts that pair well with Vollkorn

Good design mixes two or three fonts. These are picked from a different style (a clean sans next to a script, a serif next to a sans) so they stay easy to tell apart and cover the same language.
